Mark 10:42-45
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
“It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there. You’ve got to look out for number one.”
Not so with you.
“You may have to step on a few necks to get to the top, but think of how many people you could help with all the influence you’ll have.”
Not so with you.
“How you treat people is important, but not the most important thing. There’s such a thing as a benevolent dictator, you know.”
Not so with you.
Jesus asks us to be servants who lead, not just leaders who serve.
“The leader who wants to do only big things for God reveals the true nature of his motives.”
